NASCAR held its first street car race ever right here in the Windy City.


And this year…it’s back!

Yep - the 2024 NASCAR Chicago Street Race takes place over the 4th of July weekend.

NASCAR brings the thrill of high-speed racing to the streets of Chicago.

Every July*, the Chicago Street Course lights up for this 2-day car racing event.

The event includes two races - a NASCAR Xfinity Series and a NASCAR Cup Series race.


With music from a star-studded lineup, food, and family-friendly entertainment.

On the 2024 NASCAR Chicago Street Car Race

This year, the race takes place during the Fourth of July weekend - July 6th and 7th.

The Xfinity Series Race is on Saturday, July 6th, while the Cup Series Race is on Sunday, July 7th.


#DidYouKnow: The XFinity Series Race is also called The Loop 110. While the Cup Series Race is otherwise known as Grant Park 165.

  • 1:30 PM CT: The Loop 110 NASCAR Xfinity Series race begins!

  • 3:15 PM CT: Music performance (more on this in a bit).

  • 5 PM CT: Practice and Qualifying Sessions for the NASCAR Cup Series.

  • 7:15 PM CT: A Driver Event along with live music.


  • 12:00 PM CT, Sunday: The day begins with more live music and performances.*

  • 3:30 PM CT, Sunday: The Grant Park 165 NASCAR Cup Series car race BEGINS!

  • 7:00 PM CT, Sunday: The Victory Lane Celebration.

It’s almost like a full NASCAR Chicago concert!


The Black Keys and the Chainsmokers amp up the vibe on Saturday.

Sunday follows up with country sensations Lauren Alaina and Keith Urban electrifying the audience.

The performances take place at the Mobil 1 Concert Stage in Hutchinson Field.

The race begins from the start/finish line on Columbus Drive at the iconic Buckingham Fountain. 


Drivers weave through Grant Park, covering Jackson Boulevard, Michigan Avenue, and Roosevelt Road. 

Then they'll navigate a tight loop, touching Balbo Drive and DuSable Lake Shore Drive, as they race to the finish line (exactly where the race started).

The inaugural race in 2023 was 100 laps over a distance of 220 miles.

For operational reasons, this has been shortened to 75 laps covering 165 miles for the 2024 race.

No.

NASCAR events used to be held at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet. However, the street car race is not being held there.
